World Pulses Day seeks to promote the dry, edible seeds. Pulses are part of the legume family and consist of chickpeas, lentils, and dry peas and beans. According to the U.N, pulses are important as a crop because they provide farmers with food security and help improve soil fertility and biodiversity. They are also a good source of nutrition.
World Pulse Day was established in 2019 by the U.N General Assembly. It is observed annually on February 10th.
