For decades we have been plagued by HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) and to date there are currently no vaccines available that will prevent HIV infection or treat those who have it.
However, scientists are working to develop one. Let us still keep hope and celebrate the efforts of all who are fighting the battle to find a cure and vaccine on World Aids Vaccine Day which takes place on May 18th.
The aim of the activities is to raise awareness of the need for AIDS vaccines and to educate people about how HIV can be prevented.
