Towel Day

Towel Day seeks to honor and pay tribute to the author Douglas Adams. Douglas Adams was an English author best known for his work, The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. This day encourages people to carry a towel around with them in appreciation of the series. The towel is an iconic piece of equipment in the series as it has much practical and functional value. It is even said to be the most useful thing a hitchhiker can have on them. Many communities and organizations around the world promote events relating to the series on this day.

Towel Day was created in 2001 to remember Douglas Adam and his work. It is observed annually on May 25th.
