Spotlight on St Kitts and Nevis

Kitts and Nevis are volcanic islands. ... "Saint Kitts and Nevis is a two-island country in the Caribbean and is the smallest country in the Americas, both in area and population.” “Christopher Columbus also named the other island Nevis because it looked like a snow-capped mountain and the Spanish word for snow is nieves.”

The islands of St. Kitts and Nevis are known for their beautiful beaches, pristine tropical forests and friendly locals, but there is a lot more to these island paradises than meets the eye.

The twin-island Federation covers just 104 square miles, and is home to around 45,000 people. Around a quarter of them live in the capital city, Basseterre.

Residents call themselves Kittitians.
