The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) is reminding the public to be very wary when conducting business online, in particular, via Social Media sites such as Facebook and Instagram. Take the necessary precautions when using social media markets or making purchases via social media sellers.
Be vigilant about the legitimacy of sellers and buyers, stick to reputable businesses, and pay attention to red flags such as requesting large sums of money via cash, meeting in unknown/unfamiliar locations, and requesting to meet at odd times. Paying attention to these warning signs can reduce the probability of falling victim to scams and criminals
