The Dragon Boat Festival is one of the oldest festivals, spanning a history of more than 2,000 years. It is an annual celebration to commemorate the life and death of Qu Yuan, as well as the attempt at saving him. In 2009, it was added to the UNESCO World Intangible Cultural Heritage List.
