It's finally here. After being postponed for a year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the opening ceremonies of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics are set to take place on today Friday 23rd July, 2021 at Olympic Stadium in the host city.
The ceremony marks the formal beginning of the Games, which will last from July 23 through August 8.Starting at 7 a.m. The opening ceremony will be the first taste of the massive time difference for Americans planning to follow action at the Games as it is unfolding in Tokyo.
While it remains to be seen how these opening ceremonies will be different from years past, one enormous change is that no fans will be on hand. Fans are not allowed to attend any events at the Tokyo Olympics because of rising COVID-19 cases in Japan.
