Merlene Joyce Ottey, Legendary Jamaican Athlete, born 61 years ago today on 10 May 1960, in Cold Spring, Hanover. She has won 9 Olympic, 14 World Championship, and 7 World Indoor Championship medals. Ottey’s seven Olympic appearances are the most ever by any track and field athlete and her 200 metres indoor world record of 21.87 seconds, set in 1993, still stands.
