International Day of Women and Girls in Science History

Writer: ptessslmcptessslmc

International Day of Women and Girls in Science seeks to recognize the achievements of women and girls in science. This day encourages more women and girls to seek out STEM-related fields. STEM includes the sciences, technology, engineering, and mathematics. According to the U.S. Census, in 2021, women made up only 27% of those employed in science and engineering occupations. This day also aims to promote gender equality and eliminate discrimination.

International Day of Women and Girls in Science was established in 2015 by the U.N General Assembly. It is observed annually on February 11th.
